The International Franchise Association, ( IFA ), formed in 1991 the Vet-Fran Initiative, designed to help veterans pursue the dream of entrepreneurship and become franchise owners. In 2011, as announced by First Lady, Michelle Obama, Vet-Fran launched “operation enduring opportunity”, with the objective to hire and recruit over 80,000 veterans and their spouses into our franchise industry by the end of 2014.
At the time of launching this program, this was the largest commitment any business industry has made to our veterans.
Less than a week ago, the Vet-Fran initiative released a formal report that we have exceeded this goal, and the franchise industry as a whole have hired and recruited 151,557 veterans as part of operation enduring opportunity, of which 5,192 are now franchisees.
There are over 66,000 Veteran Franchisees across the U.S., that provide 815,000 Americans with jobs, and contribute $41 Billion to our GDP.
